Should the remake be played in place in chapter 1, or is it better just to play the original first?

Windows Defender show's all cracks for games as viruses. I played all the games multiple times over the past 10 years and never had any issues with viruses.

I figured out how to get them to work. Problem I'm having now is, Episode 1 on Chapter 2 keeps giving me this error everytime I DL it and try to extract it.
An unexpected error is preventing the archive from being extracted.
Error 0.8096002A: No error description available.
To close this wizard, click Finish.
It won't extract the whole game. Will someone share a working one? Thanks!

So need a little help with the walkthrough... I'm just generally confused. I saw the mini scene with 2 elves where the goblin is peeping, then the walkthrough says to go to the third floor room. nothing happens on that interaction.
then go back down to second floor. music. no idea what this means
then back up to third floor. still nothing on that interaction point
so then nothing happens and i can't get into the room for the music box. what am i missing? lol i always feel like an idiot playing Auril games

Late response but you need to execute the Setup and then find the winrar archive, which is the game itself. Kinda weird way to install a game, i got a bit confused by that too
I'm getting error 0xc000007b whenever I try to play chapter 1 episode 2 (and all other UDK games).
I'm on Windows 11, anyone got any help?
I tried using compatibility and launch as admin, folder is also put as an exception in defenders.

Look in "x:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local" for a folder called "OST_Game". If you see it in there, delete it then try again.

In install folder for Chapter 1 Episode 2 you have a text file "Read Me!.txt".
The text file says this:
1. Install "UDKInstall-EP2v1.4.exe"
2. Replace folder "User Code" in ...\Binaries\Win32
Meaning you should:
1. Delete the "UserCode" folder from "Ch1Ep2GameInstalledDir\Binaries\Win32\"
2. Copy the "UserCode" folder from game installation folder
3. Paste the copied "UserCode" folder into "Ch1Ep2GameInstalledDir\Binaries\Win32\"

It contains setup for Microsoft Visual C++ Runtimes different versions, DirectX, .NETFramework, .NETRuntime
U need these installed to launch the games, if you don't already have them installed.
Also check that post from CityBoy173 on page 23 with explanations on how to launch games
Thank you for your message. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, with the UserCode thing...What folder is "game installation folder" in step 2? There isn't any folder that could be a user code in "Ch1Ep2GameInstalledDir", there's Only "Binaries", "Engine", "UDKGame" there.
