William Sawyer – A university student with rotten luck with women.

He knew there had to be men out there with worse luck than himself. There were people in the world who were starving or didn’t even have a roof over their heads, so he always tried to tell himself that no, he wasn’t unlucky for having every single girlfriend he ever had cheat on him and leave him for the other guy. That number was four by the way.

Maybe that was just how girls were at around this age? Nah, that couldn’t be. He had friends who’d been really happy with their girlfriend for years.

It didn’t help that he was now stuck in a stupidly expensive apartment right in front of his university thanks to his girl- no, ex-girlfriend from high school. He was sure she was the one for him. He even got into the same university as her, moving to another city, far away from his family to share an apartment with her. She really wanted a place close to the university building, so after agreeing that they each would pay for half the rent every month, he moved into this high-class apartment building with her.

A semester in and he found her on their bed with one of her new classmates. After a fight, she left saying she didn’t even like the place. Now he had to pay this month’s rent by himself (thankfully with help from his family) and find a new place where he could live alone.

Yeah, he wasn’t feeling really hot. The hole in his chest still hurt, and it was made worse by the belief that there had to be something wrong with him for things to always turn out this way.
